Isaiah Hodgins (Brandon Huffman)

Film Session: Isaiah Hodgins

BeaverBlitz continues to break down the film of the newest signees. Today we look at wide receiver Isaiah Hodgins, who will be starting his OSU career in January.

On the Hoof: One of the most physically ready to play receivers to join the Beavers program in years. Could build upon frame and play next fall at 205-210 pounds. Currently checks in at 6'3" and 190 pounds.

2016 Statistics: 94 receptions for 1521 yards & 21 TDs. 6 rushes for 55 yards & 2 TDs. 3 INTs for 96 yards & 1 TD. 42 Tackles

Evaluation: Big target, possesses great size for a prep. Strong hands. Plus ability running routes / sets up routes well. Despite not having break-away speed can still pick up plenty of yards after catch. All around receiver, shows willingness to block downfield. Great job of high pointing balls in the air, could be a big red zone target at next level. Uses his body well in shielding off defenders, keeping them on his back side. Has made a big jump in athleticism from junior to senior year. Doesn't shy away from contact. Has good burst/acceleration. Vision as a ball carrier is above average, sees the field really well. Could develop from possession receiver next year to go-to receiver. Could see time returning punts, probably won't break a big one but has very sure hands.

Comparison: Larry Fitzgerald

Strengths: Size, Hands, Body Control, Route Running, Strength

Areas to Improve: Top End Speed, Agility
