Recruits react to Jason Phillips hire

Jason Phillips was announced Thursday as the Beavers new wide receiver coach. We check in with recruits to get their reaction to the hire.

Brent Brennan left in early December when he was named head coach at San Jose State.  He left a void as both a coach, but also as a top recruiter.

Coach Andersen went with a Texas native in Jason Phillips to replace Brennan.  Phillips has five years experience playing in the NFL, and multiple years coaching in the league as well.  More recently he has coached wide receivers at several schools in Texas and at Kansas.

REACTION: "I met him today," Hodgins said. "Great guy, I like him."

REACTION: "I just got to Corvallis today and am getting all settled in," Taylor said. "I met coach Phillips today and he seems like a very cool guy. I'm looking forward to working with him."

REACTION: "I haven't gotten the chance to speak with him, but from the research that I did, I really like what I saw," Flemings said.

REACTION: Hasn't spoken to Phillips yet.

REACTION: "I love it," Roberson told BeaverBlitz. "I'm a former commit to KU so its great. We spoke before he left and he asked me would I come with him I said without a doubt!"

Roberson has a visit planned January 13 to Washington State, but he said the Beavers are definitely in the mix.

"I haven't set my visit," he said. "But they (Beavers) are definitely in the mix of the top schools."

BeaverBlitz will update this story as we reach additional commits and prospects.
