Coach Gary Andersen and the Oregon State staff are seeing the fruits of their labor on the recruiting trail rewarded. Three-star running back Calvin Tyler from Silsbee, Texas is the latest to commit to Andersen and the Beavers.
"The coaches passed the first test and I like they are very up front," Tyler said. "I know I can trust them, so I was just waiting to make it to Corvallis and when I made it, it felt like I was in my hometown.
Tyler visited Oregon State this past weekend and loved what he saw. More importantly, he forged an early bond with the current players.
"I enjoyed being with the other players already there," he said. "I see the brotherhood and how close they are and they welcomed me with open hands."
Trevon Bradford was Tyler's host for the weekend
"He was really a good host," Tyler said of Bradford. "We built a big brother/little brother relationship in two days and I know he will be a great mentor for me to learn from (at Oregon State)."
Despite numerous offers, Tyler is solid in his commitment.
"I'm ready to get back to Corvallis and win the PAC-12 Championship," he said. "The players, coaches and I are all on the same page and ready to turn things around at Oregon State and build the canvas for the recruits that come after me and the ones after them."
Stay tuned to BeaverBlitz for the latest from the recruiting trail as we lead up to National Signing Day on February 1.
