Kevin Field, 6-10 SR C, Tacoma (Wash.) Wilson, verbally committed to Oregon State, in early August.
Field had taken unofficial visits to Washington and Oregon State, which many considered his finalists. He was also considering Missouri, Gonzaga, Iowa State and Boise State.
Kevin's father said that his son is looking forward to playing with Justin Holt, 6-6 SR PF, Tacoma (Wash.) Lincoln, who committed to the Beavers last week. Holt and Field play in the same high school league and are close friends.
Field said that he has a 3.3 cumulative GPA and hasn't received the score of the SAT he took in June.
Justin Holt, the 6-6 power forward from Tacoma (Wash.) Lincoln, saw his stock shoot up this July and when Oregon State offered during the late July evaluation period Holt jump on the offer.
"Oregon State has always been there," Holt said. "I committed early just because I knew in my heart that's where I wanted to be. I knew it was my type of school and my type of coaching staff."
Holt said that OSU Head Coach Ritchie McKay was a big factor in his decision. "He's a good Christian guy. He's been on me for a long time. He was the first to recruit me. I really respect him and think he'll be a good coach for me."
Another big factor was the proximity to home and the chance at early playing time. "It's only 3 1/2 hours away. I've looked at their roster and feel that I'll have a good chance at early playing time. That means a lot to me."
Holt chose OSU over Portland, Idaho, Wyoming, Irvine, Gonzaga, Loyola Marymount, Boise State and Utah.
Holt said he has a 2.7 core GPA and scored a 970 on his SAT.
