Spring Recruiting Primer: Running Backs

Our early look at 2018 recruiting continues with a look at the running backs that have received early attention as well as a few who may be worth keeping an eye on throughout the spring/summer period.

Spring evaluation period begins on April 15 and runs through May.  This is a chance for the coaches to hit the road and watch prospects perform on the field, both with their high school teammates and at camps and combines held throughout the country.  With the Beavers own spring practice in the books, the staff is able to be completely organized when they hit the road.

Over this week, we will be listing the players with early offers and those to watch who could see their Oregon State interest increase.  Running back is always important as the Beavers look to continue to strengthen their run game.

The Beavers signed two running backs in 2017, but will need to sign at least one in the 2018 class.

Bailey Nall Pierce Baylor

Offers: Arizona, Boise St, Boston College, Cal, Hawaii, Oregon State, UCLA, Utah, Washington State

BeaverBlitz Notes: Brown visited OSU during Junior Day. The top rated running back in California this cycle, Brown rushed for 1,442 yards on 221 carries with 15 touchdowns as a junior at El Camino.  He also caught eight passes for 83 yards.

Offers: Arizona, Colorado State, Florida, FAU, Iowa State, Louisville, Missouri, Oregon State

BeaverBlitz Notes: Florida running backs have been good for the Beavers and with position coach Telly Lockette's connections to the Sunshine State, the trend should continue. Ford has been drawing attention from across the country.  The Beavers could help the case tremendously by getting him out for a visit this fall.

Offers: ASU, Boston College, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisville, Maryland, Missouri, NC State, Oklahoma State, Oregon State, Oregon, Purdue, Rutgers, South Carolina, Utah, West Virginia

BeaverBlitz Notes: Another Florida back to keep an eye on is Tampa native Cunningham who has an extensive offer list.  Considered a longshot for Oregon State.

Offers: Baylor, Colorado, Houston, Oklahoma State, Oregon State

BeaverBlitz Notes: Houston (Tex) Lamar is loaded this year and the Beavers are on notice.  Henry was excited to receive an offer from Oregon State, but told BeaverBlitz that he would need to make a visit to check things out.  The Beavers landed two running backs from Texas in 2017, could Henry be the next? He is definitely on the BeaverBlitz board.

Offers: Hawaii, Montana State

BeaverBlitz Notes: Was a definite talent last season running behind five-star offensive lineman Foster Sarell. Right now seeing most attention from Mountain West programs, but strong performances on the 7-on-7 circuit will help him as well.
