Speaking with Matthew Cindric you get a sense early in the conversation just how intelligent the young lineman is. With offers from across the PAC 12 and the Ivy League it becomes even more evident. He has been busy with his junior year of high school and visiting as many schools that he can as he readies himself for his senior year and making a decision on where to attend college.
"Right now I have offers from UCLA, Utah, Cal, WSU, Oregon State, Nevada, Fresno, Hawaii, Montana State, Princeton and Yale," he said. "I've been able to get to WSU last year as well as UW, Oregon State for their Junior Day, UCLA and USC and I'm planning a trip to see Cal and Utah."
"I haven't had any new offers since they were all flying in at me in February," he said. "I've just really been focusing on visiting different places and seeing where I can see myself playing football and going to school."
Oregon State recently had the chance to host the 6-foot-4, 265 pound lineman, who confirmed that he is being recruited by Coach Chad Kauha'aha'a to play defensive line for the Beavers.
"I really liked the campus and the whole campus vibe at Oregon State," he said. "I think that the new Business center is cool and seeing all of the football facilities that are new and nice was great."
"I also liked Coach Andersen's message when he spoke to me and my family," he continued. "It was good to hear that the program is moving in the right direction and his beliefs are similar to my team and coaches now. For all the schools I'm visiting, I really just want to get a feel for the direction that the program is headed and to continue to build relationships with the coaches.:
As far as a decision or narrowing his list, Cindric does not have a timetable in mind, but he does feel good about his current options.
"I've heard from every PAC 12 school and I have a lot of good offers," he said. "There are no standouts right now and I want to wait until closer to my senior year before committing or narrowing a list. I don't want to drag schools on if I know I am not going there."
As far as camps are concerned, he wants to focus on attending camps where he would have the opportunity of being coached by a future college coach, so college camps are on the horizon for the summer.
Cindric vowed to keep in touch with BeaverBlitz to keep us updated on new offers or visits as he sets them up.
