Quarterback is always one of the top priorities for any class, and the the Oregon State Beavers were able to take a giant leap in recruiting on Memorial Day, as 3-star Marin Catholic gunslinger Spencer Petras committed to Coach Andersen and the Beavs.
After a visit to Corvallis a week and a half ago, the race for Petras appeared to be between hometown Cal and OSU. What sold him on Oregon State?
"Corvallis did!" he said. "The football culture, people and coaching staff blew me away."
He called Andersen this morning with the commitment.
"I spoke with Coach Andersen, Coach McGiven and Coach Baldwin this morning and they were all extremely excited," said Petras. "I was the #1 QB on their board."
As Petras finishes up his junior year, he is excited to get back to Corvallis next month. He also confirmed that he has shut down his recruitment.
"I'm 100% committed to Oregon State," he stated. "I'll be back in Corvallis in June."
Last season Petras put up big numbers, throwing for 3,036 yards, 33 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions. He continues to grow and confirmed with BeaverBlitz that he is currently 6-foot-5, 220 pounds
He happy to get this decision behind him and turn his sights toward his senior campaign.
"I'm looking forward to focusing on this upcoming season with my team," said Petras. "Our team is sure to be great this year."
