OL Matthew Cindric updates recruitment

Matthew Cindric of Skyline High School in Sammamish (WA) has several schools hot in pursuit of his commitment including the Oregon State Beavers. He gave BeaverBlitz an update on where they stand in his recruitment.

Skyline High School has been a football powerhouse in the state of Washington for years and has been responsible for churning out a number of the state's top prospects. From Max Browne and Jake Heaps to Kasen Williams and Henry Bainvalu, all have worn the green and silver of the Spartans. The next top prospect to come from their ranks is linemen Matthew Cindric.

Cindric is a 6'4" 265 pound linemen who has a 3* ranking from Scout.com. Although he's listed as an offensive tackle in the database, a number of teams actually like him on the defensive side of the ball where he was an All-King County performer as a junior. He has a good frame already and projects as defensive end in a 3-4 scheme with the ideal size. On film, he shows good strength in beating double teams and good awareness in reading the rub in the read option game.

On the recruiting front, Cindric is in no hurry to make a commitment as he lists 16 offers currently and has a number of other programs keeping tabs on him.

"I'm just taking the whole process slowly and kind of seeing how everything shapes out. Colorado State is my newest offer, I've talked a good amount with UW and Nebraska and a little bit to Stanford, Arizona State, and Oregon."

While new programs are checking in with Cindric and doing their due diligence, Oregon State has been on him since offering back at the end of February. He attended the junior day and spring game earlier this spring and Coach Kauha'aha'a returned the favor, visiting Cindric at Skyline a couple weeks ago.

"Coach Chad (Kauha'aha'a) came by the school and we got to chat earlier this spring. I've texted a little with Coach Cookus too. I'm hoping to maybe visit in the summer or for a game this fall, I'm not sure yet."

Cindric had a busy spring and looks to be following that up with a somewhat quiet summer. Over the last couple months, Matthew traveled to see a number of different college campuses including OSU, Utah, UCLA, USC and Cal. This summer however he's looking forward to spending more time in the local area, with just a camp appearance at Washington on the books.

"I'll be going to the UW camp but I think that's it, I'm trying to enjoy my last summer home!"

Cindric does not have a timeframe for when he would like to make a decision, as he doesn't want to set a date and then feel like he has to rush to a decision if he's not prepared to make it. BeaverBlitz will check back in with the 3* as the football season approaches later this summer.
