Team Preview

Ian Crosswhite provides the Ducks with a dual threat. (Getty Images)

  • Confidence - The Ducks have posted back to back 20 win seasons, a Pac-10 championship, a Pac-10 Tournament title and a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances the past two years.

  • The long ball - Shooting a conference best .433 from downtown (second in the nation) while hitting 91 of 210 attempts, on average hit 10.11 three point shots again, good for third in the nation.

  • Offensive firepower - Oregon is second the Pac-10 in scoring offense with 81.4 ppg, second in field goal percentage (.433), and first in three point field goal percentage (.389).

  • Sharing the rock - Second in the conference with 18.33 a game...have 165 assists on 248 baskets for an assist rate of 67 percent.

  • Replacing Ridnour - The Ducks will have to be patient as Aaron Brooks and Brandon Lincoln learn running the UO offense.

  • The big fellas - Although they have size and finesse, Oregon lacks the bulk as they are ninth in the conference in blocked shots (2.22 bpg), ninth in offensive rebounds (10.11 orpg), and seventh in defensive rebounds (24.11 drpg).

Last Time the Ducks Played Oregon State...

in Corvallis...
Luke Ridnour scored 18 points and set a new Pacific-10 Conference season record with his 51st consecutive successful free throw as Oregon defeated Oregon State 80-63 Saturday night. The Ducks (17-6, 7-5) have won nine straight and 19 of the last 20 meetings between the two teams. Earlier this season, Oregon downed the Beavers 79-68 at McArthur Court in Eugene. Let's keep our team in this one'," Luke Jackson said. After their talk, Jackson and guard Luke Ridnour led a second-half surge that gave No. 22 Oregon a 79-68 victory Saturday. Recap | Box Score

News from the Latest Duck Game

Dijon Thompson and reserve Janou Rubin scored 13 points each and UCLA recovered after blowing most of a 22-point lead to beat Oregon 81-74 Sunday, ending a five-game losing streak against the Ducks.  The Bruins (6-3, 2-0 Pac-10) drastically improved their performance from the free throw line after Friday's 3-of-11 showing in a win over Oregon State...UCLA Hangs on to Defeat Ducks

News and Notes

  • The Ducks have won 19 of the last 20 games in the Civil War, including nine in a row.  The nine consecutive wins is one shy of Oregon ’s longest span in the series,a pair of 10- game streaks in 1919-21 and 1995-98.

  • During the last nine seasons the Beavers lone win was a 48-45 victory in Corvallis during the 1998-99 season.

  • The Oregon/Oregon State basketball series is the most contested series in NCAA history. The 318 games in the series is almost 50 more than the next closest, 271 for Oregon State/Washington.

  • Luke Jackson is one of three players in Pac-10 history to record multiple career triple-doubles, joining California's Jason Kidd and Arizona's Loren Woods.

  • Jackson enters the Oregon State game as the conference’s active career leader in points (1,503), rebounds (585) and games played (104) and is second in assists (320).

  • Oregon has made 47 three-point field goals in its last four games --11 against Alabama, 15 against Portland,14 versus USC and seven at UCLA. Overall, Oregon has hit 11 or more threes in five of nine games this season.

Both teams like to push the ball.  The Civil War should be an exciting game, but Oregon has better athletes and will extend their winning streak to double digits...talk about it on the basketball message board.
