Free safety to visit Corvallis

The Beavers will be receiving a visit from a four star safety prospect next weekend. The talented player is currently an USC soft verbal, and might change his mind following his visit.

Four star free safety and USC soft verbal Lamar Herron will be tripping to OSU on the weekend of the 23rd.

TheInsiders.com spoke with Lamar's coach Terry Stark today who had some positive comments for Oregon State fans.

"Lamar has decided to look at another school because he wants to start his freshman year," Stark said.  USC's safeties this year were a freshman and a sophomore.

Oregon State is not the only school to still be courting the talented player.  "Boise State and Fresno State have also jumped on Lamar and I am sure that more schools will be calling soon," his high school coach said.

Despite BSU and FSU, Stark thinks the men in black have a excellent chance at grabbing Herron.  "OSU has a great shot because they graduated one safety and only have two coming back. Also Lamar's good friend Joe Rudolph is up there."

Lamar will re-take his SAT's this weekend and then trip to the OSU campus the following weekend.

"He is close on qualifying," Stark said.  "By the end of the year he will have a 2.8 or 2.9 and he is very close on his [SAT] score."

Herron committed to USC in May and would be a huge pick up for the Beavers if he commits.
