OSU picked to finish fourth

Pac-10 coaches, players, and members of the media swarmed Los Angeles on Tuesday for the annual Pac-10 media day.

For the second straight pre-season USC was picked to win the conference title. USC received all 24 first place votes, the first time in the Pac-10 era since 1978 that one team received every first-place vote.

Pollsters have correctcly selected the Conference Champion 21 of 43 previous polls, including four years in a row.

California came in at second, their highest predicted finish since 1978, while Oregon came in third.

Oregon State, Washington State, and Arizona State came in at fourth, fifth, and sixth respectivly with only seven points seperating the fourth through sixth spots. Arizona State was picked as high as third and as low as ninth by various media members.

This is the second consecutive year OSU has been picked to finish fourth. OSU also broke its three year string of receiving at least one first place vote.

Washington, UCLA, Stanford, and Arizona round out the conferences perdicted finish. Arizona has been predicted to finish last the past two out of three seasons, but have posted a winning record two out of the three years.
