1. Get Pressure on the QB.
Not going to be an easy task. The LSU line is anchored by an All-American center that gave up a just 22 sacks as a unit last season. But with a new quarterback back there the Beavers will have to chance to rattle the new guy. Pound him into the turf and don't let him get comfortable in the pocket as he waits for his receivers to get open. With Bill Swancutt coming off the end and an effective blitz package the Beavers are capable of harassing Marcus Randall which will make a BIG difference on Saturday.
2. No Mistakes on Special Teams.
A blocked punt, a kickoff returned for a touchdown, a mis-snapped field goal attempt - any mistake on special teams is going to be HELL to recover from. Oregon State is going to have to claw and scratch for every yard and their special teams must be a benefit, or Mike Riley and the rest of the staff might make Bruce Read start getting coffee for them like the other graduate assistants.
3. Win the Turnover Battle.
It will be interesting to see how the "new and improved" Derek Anderson does against arguably the nation's top defensive backfield. The running backs need to hold onto the ball while the defense needs to take away the ball. Let's all close our eyes and hope and hope and hope. Not that I don't have confidence in our team...but does Derek have confidence in himself? We will see in just a few days.
