SPECIAL TEAMS

Kick and Punt Return
Senior Chris Carr handles punt and kickoff duties and he has already made a splash in 2004. He returned five punts for 137 yards, including a 62-yard burst for a touchdown, against Idaho. His performance earned him WAC Special Teams Player of the Week honors.

Sophomore Quinton Jones joins Carr for kick returns. There were not many opportunities to return kickoffs against Idaho, but Jones shined in his one chance turning in a 28-yard gain.

Jones has hit 64 consecutive extra points.

Place-kicker
Senior Tyler “The Toe” Jones returns after earning honorable mention All-WAC honors last year after making 19 of 25 field goals and 75 of 76 extra points. Jones is almost automatic from 35 in, consistent from 40-45 yards out, but struggles beyond a 50-yard boot. He made his only kick of the night against Idaho, a 26-yard kick. Jones has made 64 consecutive extra points, the fifth longest streak in the nation.

Punter
Sophomore Kyle Stringer walked on in 2003 and quickly earned a scholarship. He averaged 40.2 yards a kick last year which was good for fourth in the WAC and the third-best punting average in school history. He launched 60 kicks with his longest being a 58 yard boot while pinning BSU opponents inside the 20 eighteen times. He did not punt against Idaho.
