Up this week, CAL. The local radio guys in Sac have done everything short of offering to mow Tedford's lawn. I am not saying that they are jocking him, well, ok...yes I am. In our favor, the Bears have had three weeks off and have yet to play a tough team. The revenge factor and the fact that quarterback Aaron Rodgers looks unholy right now could spell trouble for the Beavs.
1. Establish the running game
I might as well just cut and paste this from each article I have done this season. Rumor has it that J.T. Walker is fairly confident that this is his job to lose next year. I would like to see more of Ryan Cole in the backfield and less Dwight Wright this game to see if OSU can get something going in the "put-your-head-down-and-run-department."
2. Play inspired defense
An outstanding running back and a NFL passer is all the orange and black defense will be facing this weekend. Hopefully the Beavers can repeat last years dominating defensive performance and make Rodgers have nightmares about Bill Swancutt and the crew for the rest of his life. I would like to see the following conversation in about four years:
John Madden: "Aaron, how does it feel to turn the Cowboys franchise around and win the SuperBowl?"
A.R.: "It feels great, but you know what, I still can't get over never beating Oregon State, I mean this is great, but when I put my head down on my pillow tonight all I am going to think about is that damn Reser Stadium and all that orange."
3. Don't get down if the team falls behind
My main fear is the Beavers falling behind early by 10 points and seeing a bunch of sulking players on the sidelines. Cal's defense is mediocre and Oregon State can score on them quickly, but you gotta believe...YOU GOTTA BELIEVE BEAVER NATION!!
