Beavs Prepare for Annual Civil War Blood Drive

For the third year in a row, and with your help, Oregon State University will be saving thousands of lives this football season.

This season, bleed for your team and donate blood!

We are calling on you to donate blood, anywhere across the state, during the 3rd Annual Civil War Blood Drive, November 1 - 17. The team who bleeds the most… the university with the most donors… statewide, will be honored with the title “Civil War Blood Drive Champions” and announced at the game on November 20!

Join us for a special kickoff celebration in Portland on Monday, November 1, 2004 at the Portland Donor Center - 3131 N. Vancouver Avenue (next to Legacy Emmanuel Hospital.) Prizes will be given away hourly and include Civil War Blood Drive t-shirts, UO and OSU branded merchandise and more. Grand Prize: A pair of Civil War game tickets will be given away at the end of the November 1, 2004 drive, courtesy of the OSU Alumni Association.

Last year, fans, students and alumni of both schools collectively donated over 6,500 units of blood to help Oregon patients. This year, we challenge our alumni and friends across the state of Oregon to help us meet an even greater goal of 9,000 blood donations.

The holiday season will, once again, impact the blood inventories of American Red Cross and Lane Memorial Blood Bank. While holiday events distract us from regular blood donation in November and December, it’s important to keep our community blood supply filled. The blood collected during the Civil War Blood Drive will help ensure the medical needs of our families, friends and neighbors are met all winter long.

Please schedule a donation on behalf of the BEAVERS at any blood drive, statewide, by November 17th. In addition to helping Oregon State University win the competition, you’ll help save as many as three lives - Plus, all participants will receive great Civil War Blood Drive giveaways, while supplies last!! Call 1-800-GIVE-LIFE; or in Lane County, call 541-484-9111, to schedule a donation at a blood drive near you.

Both universities will be competing for the title, but the real winners are the patients who receive the gift of life. Together, we can save a life. For competition updates, please visit the OSU Alumni Association's Civil War Blood Drive webpage at:
