More bowl news.
Purdue accepted a bid to play in the Sun Bowl Tuesday.  The Boilermakers could be the Beavers opponents in the post season.  Purdue head coach Joe Tiller commented about the possible match up with Oregon State yesterday.

"If we're fortunate enough to play the Beavers, I know they have a heck of a football team," Tiller said. "And gee whiz, did they ever light it up in their finale. . . . That would really be something if these two teams got together. It would be something the fans would really, really enjoy."

Tiller has taken the Boilermakers to eight bowl games in eight years.

Civil War trophy.
Apparently a Civil War trophy was created in 1959, but the trophy was stolen and has been misplaced over the years.  For an interesting read, visit (Hopefully someone can find it!)

Serna on scholarship.

Serna has made 16 of 17 field goals this season with 10 of his makes coming against Washington and Oregon.  He is a Lou Groza Award semi-finalist.

The good kind.  Defensive end Bill Swancutt and center Matt Brock were both named to the Pac-10 All-Acacemic First team for the second consecutive year.  Brock was also selected to the 2004 Academic All-District Football Team earlier this month.

Teammates Pat Loney and Adam Koets made the second team while Ryan Gunderson and John Dailey earned honorable mention honors.

One more suspension.
Senior center Brent Bridges will be held out of games and practices for the remaining of the season for violating team policy.  He might have been involved in an altercation at The Headline Cafe early Sunday morning, Nov. 21.
