Cole ready to pop?

Ryan Cole is a 6-0, 210-pound running back from Port Orchard (Wash.) South Kitsap, and Husky fans are awaiting anxiously the decision the state Gatorade Player of the Year is about to make. One thing is for sure - wherever Ryan ends up, it'll be in the Northwest.

"I'm not doing too much now, just weighing my decision," Ryan told tonight. Cole took a trip to Chicago last weekend to officially visit Northwestern and came away impressed. "It was great," he said. "Northwestern has a great campus and the coaches are great too. The players are nice and the facilities were nice too. The campus is in a really great area. The academics there are top-notch and a degree from Northwestern can open up a lot of doors. They are well-known for their academics. They are off the charts."

However, there are a couple of other schools that have grabbed the spotlight for Ryan. "Right now I'm going to decide between Oregon State and Washington," he said. "I visited Oregon State the weekend of the 4th. Corvallis is a real low-key town, which is nice. They have great facilities and their program is on the rise. Coach Erickson is a great coach. It looks like it would be a nice place to be."

And a decision is iminent. "I'm done with my trips and I will decide between those two schools within the next two days," he said.
