Beavers down for the count?

With the absence of Bill Swancutt and a host of younger players on the defensive line the Beavers need an experienced end who can bring the heat. DE David Stanton may be that player and he visited the Oregon State campus last weekend.

Stanton has narrowed his list to three state schools - Iowa State, Michigan State and Oregon State.

"I haven't really made a decision yet," Stanton said. "I'm still in limbo. I have a meeting with my coaches at College of the Canyons Thursday, and I should know a lot more after that."

His trip to Corvallis was a positive one although it  doesn't sound good from an orange and black point of view.

"It was a good visit," he said. "It opened my eyes to a couple of things.  Facility-wise, Iowa State is above Oregon State.

"Coaching-wise, it's the same. Iowa State and Michigan State have great coaches, and I love the coaches there. But I'm not as close to the coaches at Oregon State. Iowa State and Michigan State are still my two favorites after the visit."

Stanton will most likely be a mid-year transfer and will have to spend one more semester at Canyons. But, he is keeping an up beat attitude about the situation.

"That's one of the main things we're going to talk about Thursday," Stanton said. "I was taking an online class, but the test is coming back late, so most likely I don't think I'm going to be a mid-year guy. I will probably be transferring in the summer time."

It doesn't sound like the Beavers will have to worry if he is a mid-year transfer or not, as Iowa State and Michigan State clearly have the advantage.
