Junior To Watch: Cali DB Terrel Thomas

Last year, Oregon State signed defensive back Josh Davies out of Rancho Cucamonga (Calif.) and are looking good for one of his teamates from the class of 2003. Terrel Thomas, 6-2, 178 pound defensive back is an even better prospect than Davies and the Beavers are looking good right now.

Like Davies, Thomas attended Oregon State's football camp last summer where he was offered a scholarship. He's one of the most athletic players in the state and is a natural free safety prospect. As a junior, Thomas totaled 68 tackles and five interceptions to earn All-League honors for the second year in a row.

Speed is the Thomas' forte. He has clocked a 4.42 in the 40 as well as a 10.8 in the 100m and 21.7 in the 200m. He has excellent range in the secondary and can cover a lot of ground. In addition to the Beavers, the athlete is also hearing from Colorado, Iowa State, Washington, Michigan, Michigan State, Northwestern, Texas A&M, Cal, Colorado State and Miami.

"Oregon State is my leader right now but I also like Colorado, Washington and Iowa State," Thomas said. "I camped at Oregon State last summer and I'm going to that camp again this year. I'm also going to the Nike Camp in Los Angeles and I want to try to go to camps at Texas A&M and Michigan."

Academically, Thomas is carrying a 2.75 GPA and will take the SAT later in the year.
