Future Beaver leads Lincoln to WA Championship

Lincoln (Tacoma) High School won its second straight state 4A championship Saturday by defeating Ferris (Spokane) High School 50-47. Lincoln Senior Justin Holt, who will play at Oregon State next season, led the Abes to victory and was named the tournament MVP.

Ferris went out of their way to hold Holt to just 5 points on 2 of 4 shooting, but he was still able to pull down 10 rebounds and get his teammates involved. He had scored more than 20 points in the two previous tournament games, before being held to single digits Saturday.

It was the second straight year that Ferris lost at the hands of Lincoln in the final. Last year, the Abes defeated the Saxons 61-54. Lincoln becomes the first team to win back-to-back championships in the highest classification since Redmond did so in 1988 and 1989.
