Junior To Watch: Oregon OL Roy Scheuning

A lineman to keep you eye on next year will be Roy Scheuning, a 6-4, 275 offensive lineman from Pendleton (Ore.). Scheuning excelled on both sides of the ball last season and will be one of the top line recruits in the Northwest.

Scheuning totaled 38 pancake blocks at right tackle and was in on 58 tackles and nine quarterback sacks while playing defensive tackle. He earned 1st team All-League for the second year in a row as well as honorable mention All-State honors this past season.

Three major things most colleges are looking for in an offiensive lineman are athleticism, strength and attitude and Scheuning has it all. He benches 335 pounds is very strong at the point of attack. Even more impressive is a 28 inch vertical jump showing his overall explosiveness and he plays with a nasty streak you love to see as well.

On the recruiting front, Scheuning is hearing from Oregon, Oregon State, Arizona State and Washington. His teammate, Shawn Perkins, signed with Oregon this past year and the Ducks are Scheuning's top school at this time.

"My dad went to Oregon State and that was my favorite school growing up but I like Oregon right now," Scheuning said. "ASU, Oregon State, Washington and Arizona would be the rest of my top five. I like the atmosphere at Oregon and that's one of the main things I'm looking for a in a school."

Academically, Scheuning is carrying a 2.65 GPA and wants to major in Education. He'll attend the Nike Camp in Eugene as well as the Oregon team camp.
