Lyon at OSU, but hasn't narrowed choices

CONTRARY TO PUBLISHED REPORTS, highly sought Newhall, Calif., quarterback Tyler Lyon hasn't narrowed his list down to two schools, and still plans on making a decision sometime during or after the season according to his father, College of the Canyons coach, Chuck Lyon. Tyler is, however, in Corvallis right now, looking to get the lay of the land.

Tyler Lyon has narrowed it down to schools out West according to his father, but reports that it was now down to just two schools -- Oregon State and Arizona -- were inaccurate.

"That is not true that he's narrowed it down to two," said Chuck Lyon. "I don't know where that came from."

Lyon holds offers from Oregon State, Notre Dame, LSU, Arizona, Arizona State, BYU, Rutgers and Ole Miss.

The coach said his son is in Corvallis right now on an unofficial visit but not to expect an early verbal commitment this weekend, nor before the season, for that matter.

"He's still going to wait and go through the season and see what happens," emphasized coach Lyon. "I would say he's narrowed it to the (West)."

He went on to say a number of other schools in the Pac-10 are showing considerable interest in Tyler.

"He's getting a lot -- a lot -- of interest from other schools, ones that he'd be very interested in were they to offer," said Lyon.

Last season, Tyler completed 59 percent of his passes for 3107 yards and 27 TDs, 20 INTs at Hart High. He rushed for another 6 touchdowns.

He is also an outstanding baseball player.
