Calvin Carlyle Officially Given Medical Redshirt

Calvin Carlyle has officially been given a medical redshirt by the Pac-10 conference and will be eligible to play in 2002.

Carlyle was hurt during the Beavers game at New Mexico State and sat out the rest of the season with a shoulder injury. Carlyle had started the first two games of 2001 and was a full time starter during the 2000 season in which the Beavers won eleven games, including a Fiesta Bowl victory over Notre Dame.

During his career at Oregon State he has accumulated 128 tackles in 35 games and is known as one of the Beavers emotional leaders.

During spring practice Carlyle has been on the sidelines providing encouragement and leadership to the Beaver defense.
