Jay John to be hired as basketball coach

The Gazette Times and ESPN are reporting that Jay John will be Oregon State's new basketball coach.

Jay John will become Oregon State's seventh head basketball coach after McKay took the head coaching job at New Mexico.

John will be bring Pac-10 experience with him to Corvallis as he has been an assistant to Lute Olson for 4 years. The Oregon State athletic department will make the announcement at a news conference on Tuesday at 2 PM.

Before his stint at Arizona, John was an assistant at Oregon under Ernie Kent. John also spent eight years as an assistant at Butler University.
