Weathersby and Manning named to Nagurski Watch

Eric Manning and Dennis Weathersby have been named to the watch list for the prestigious Nagurski Trophy given annually to the nation's best defender.

Manning, a senior from Compton, California, has played in 35 games in his career at OSU, never missing a game. He has recorded 74 tackles in his career, including 21 tackles for loss. Manning was named first team All-Conference last year, the only Beaver to receive first team honors.

Weathersby, also a senior from Duarte, California, holds a share of the Beaver record for pass breakups in a career. He will open the 2002 season needing just one to hold the record on his own. Weathersby has also never missed a game, playing in 35 games. He was a late replacement for Ricky Walker as a starter in the 1999 season opener, and never relinquished his role as a starter.

Last year University of Oklahomas Roy Williams, a junior defensive back, won the Nagurski Trophy.
