Reinert Expected to be Named Assistant to John

Jay John is expected to round out his coaching staff shortly. Reinert is expected to be one of John's assistants.

John was unwilling to discuss who will make up the rest of his coaching staff during his introductory press conference, but it has been reported by the Gazette-Times that Jeff Reinert, the head coach at Utah Valley State College will be named one of John's assistants. Reinert was seen Tuesday at Gill Coliseum during the press conference to announce John's hiring.

Reinert, 39, has been the coach at UVSC for the last eight seasons. He was recently named Associate Athletic Director and had planned to end his stint as a coach. He has not had a losing season in his eight years at UVSC. He has a career record of 179-77. Before moving to UVSC, he was an assistant at BYU for three seasons, and a graduate assistant at Nebraska for two seasons. He also was an assistant at Simpson College for two years.

Reinert was a teammate of John Stockton's at Gonzaga University. Reinert graduated with a degree in Physical Education in 1985 before beginning his coaching career as the head coach of Bremer State High School in Australia. He also received an M.A. from Drake University in Education Administration in 1988.
