Junior To Watch: Cali QB T.C Ostrander

In what is looking more and more like a very strong year for quarterbacks on the West Coast, another signal caller we like a lot is T.C Ostrander, 6-3, 205 pounds from Atherton (Calif.) Menlo-Atherton.

Northern California is once again where the power is when it comes to the top quarterbacks in the state. Kyle Wright (Monte Vista) and Dennis Dixon (San Leandro) look like two of the nation's top five signal callers to us and Sam Kellar (San Ramon Valley) is another top 15 talent.

Ostrander works out with the same quarterback coach (Roger Theder) as does Wright, Dixon and Kellar. Theder also worked out with current seniors Drew Olson (UCLA), Marc Guillon (Miami) and Trent Edwards (Stanford) and the similarities are very evident in Ostrander.

When you watch his drops, ball placement, release and follow through on Ostrander, it's almost a carbon copy of Drew Olson. He has a very strong arm, throws an accurate ball and has solid feet in the pocket.

Playing for a team that finished just 4-5 a year ago, Ostrander completed 80-143 passes for 1,305 yards and 12 touchdowns in seven games. As the teams kicker, he averaged 46 yards per punt and boasts an 85 MPH fastball in baseball.

On the recruiting front, Ostrander has been offered a scholarship by Oregon State and is hearing from, Virginia, Stanford, Kansas State, Michigan, Washington, Arizona, Arizona State, Wisconsin and the Ivy League.

"Virginia is my top school right now followed by Stanford, Oregon, Kansas State and Michigan," Ostrander said. "I'm looking for a school with a strong football program with good academics and a nice location."

Academically, Ostrander is carrying a 4.0 GPA and has already scored as amazing 1460 on the SAT. He'll attend the Nike Camp in Palo Alto as well as summer camps at Michigan, Stanford and Virginia.
