LaRocque: Reports of OSU verbal premature

DESPITE A PUBLISHED REPORT today, junior college linebacker LaRocque has NOT verbally committed to Oregon State. "That's not accurate," LaRocque told moments ago from Missouri, where he is on his third official visit. Tomorrow, LaRocque will be at Boise State for his fourth trip. Continue on for the very latest from the highly sought College of the Canyons 'backer.

"Right now I'm in Missouri," laughed LaRocque when asked about the report that he had verbally committed to Oregon State. "I'm on an official trip to Missouri."

LaRocque assured BF.C he had some down time and would be happy to talk recruiting.

"Let me explain what was said and misinterpreted. I said (Oregon State) might be one of the schools that I'd commit to and (it) was taken the wrong way."

LaRocque (6-2, 232, 4.58) said he also still needs to go to Boise State Saturday to get the lay of the land with the coaching change. It will be his fourth trip this week, having already visited Oregon State, New Mexico and currently right in the middle of his Missouri trip.

LaRocque did say his decision would likely come before Christmas and could happen as soon as a day or two after he returns from Boise State. At this moment, LaRocque said it's between Oregon State and Missouri, but also said nothing is set in stone and he remains open.

"Right now, it's hard to say, but right now, it's either Oregon State or Missouri," said LaRocque. "But it also depends on whether I enjoy Boise."

A MID YEAR transfer, LaRocque is eligible to sign beginning Dec. 21, enroll at a D-IA school in January and participate in spring ball.

The book on LaRocque is he's a sideline to sideline 'backer with speed and persistence, racking up 12 sacks on the regular season for Canyons.

As a senior, at Agoura High School in Agoura Hills, California, he was named first team all-league, area and CIF. He was a partial qualifier out of high school due to missing one core class. He will have three to play two at the next level.
