One of the top backs in California is Maurice Drew. He plays for Concord (Cal.) De La Salle, a team that has won an incredible 125 straight games. Last season as a junior, Drew rushed for 736 yards and 22 scores. He averaged 12.9 yards per carry and only averaged 5 carries per game. "I catch and run the ball very well," said Drew. "I am not afraid to hit. I love to run up the middle. If I need to lower the boom, I will lower the boom. I hope to carry the ball more this season."
So far, Drew has scholarship offers from Washington State and Colorado. Drew, 5-8.5 and 190 pounds, bench presses 330 pounds and squats 500.
"Right now, I am not even thinking about recruiting. I am trying to get the grades up so I can go anywhere. Colorado, Washington State, Notre Dame, Michigan, California, Arizona, Nebraska and basically the whole PAC 10 is recruiting me."
