Week 3 Spring Recap

News, notes, recaps and links from the third week of spring practice at Oregon State University.

Day 12 - Apr. 22

Short recap - The defense shined with big hits from S Al Afalava and LB Derrick Doggett while CB Keenan Lewis took a shot on the offensive side of the ball catching a 42-yard bomb.

QB Matt Moore completed 8 of 19 passes for 87 yards while RB Patrick Fuller led the rushing attack with eight carries for 81 yards, including a 51-yard romp.

"There was some good give-and-take today,"  Coach Mike Riley said. "There were some good runs, some great hits and there weren't too many penalties. It was all pretty good today."


Day 11 - Apr. 21

Short recap - TE James Otuhiva sat out his second consecutive day of practice while WR Sammie Stroughter sat out drills with a left knee sprain.  He is out the remainder of April.  WR Anthony Wheat-Brown returned to practice, but only participated in drills.

Gary Beck is the team's new offensive graduate assistant as GA Scott Turner is moving to Virginia to he a high school head coach.  Beck and Riley were high school teammates in 1970 at Corvallis High.  Beck will coach the tight ends.


Day 10 - Apr. 19

Short recap - TE James Otuhiva sat out with a sore knee while TE Jason Vandiver returned to drills.  WR Anthony Wheat-Brown missed his third consecutive practice while WR Sammie Stroughter tweaked his knee.

S Sabby Piscitelli continues to rack up the interceptions with two more as the quarterbacks struggled to stay on target.


Day 9 - Apr. 17

Short recap - The defensive line put in their best performance of April as Curtis Coker and William Vea dominated the middle. QB Matt Moore struggled to find open receivers as S Sabby Piscitelli snagged two interceptions.

WR Anthony Wheat-Brown sat out again as did TE Jason Vandiver who was shook up after a hit on Saturday.
