Mitch Barnhart was introduced today as the new man in charge of Kentucky Wildcats athletics. He leaves Corvallis after a wildly successful stint. He oversaw the turnaround of the football program, as well as many successes in other sports. He will be most remembered for his luring of Dennis Erickson back to the collegiate ranks in 1999.
The only complaint most Beaver fans have had during Barnhart's tenure is the lack of success in men's basketball. He will not have that problem at UK, at least in the eyes of anyone other than the demanding Wildcat fan, used to an annnual Final Four trip.
BeaverFootball.com would like to extend our thanks to Barnhart and his family for the work he has put in over the past four years and for his helpfulness to the work of this website.
OSU President Paul Risser has already announced plans for a national search to find his succesor. An interim AD has not been named, but it is expected that Bob DeCarolis, the Senior Associate Athletic Director, will be promoted on a temporary basis.
