RECRUITING '07: Power RB likes the Beavs

WITH ONE PAC-10 OFFER now under his belt, Redmond, Wash., running back Logwone Mitz is a yards-after-contact bruiser with a surprising amount of speed and wiggle. He attended the half day camp in Corvallis, got to meet some Beaver players and gives the OSU coaching staff high marks. And his junior tape, accessible through this story, is made-to-order for fans of smash mouth football.

"Oregon State's camp was great, I met a lot of new coaches and I like them a lot," said Mitz. "The Oregon camp, I really enjoyed their coaching staff. Oregon, Oregon State and Wazzu's coaching staff are all great and I can definitely see being with any of those three teams and getting along great with any of those staffs."

Mitz (6-0, 225, 4.55) said it's too early to pick a frontrunner, with Washington and Idaho also schools of interest, and that Boise State is a "definite" contender, too.

"I just have to get out and talk to a few more coaching staffs and meet some of the players," said Mitz. "I haven't met many of the players on the teams besides Oregon and Oregon State's."

MITZ ALSO ATTENDED the WSU camp and received his first college offer soon after from the Cougs.

"I loved what I saw," said Mitz of Washington State. "The coaching staff brought everybody in, especially me, and just showed me the ropes of how they do things. And I liked how they did everything, the camp was really good."

Among the highlights were connecting with the Cougars' staff and running backs coach Kelly Skipper.

ALTHOUGH HE'S BEEN to a number of schools this offseason, Mitz said there's still much he has yet to research about all of them.

"I didn't get a chance to really get around the whole (WSU) campus but I know what most of it is like," said Mitz, who recently improved his 40 time to a 4.55. "I still want to see it all for myself and check out everything, though, look into every little thing."

A SCHOOL THAT offers a good Child Psychology and/or Teaching curriculum will be a key factor in his decision.

"I want to work with kids, that's what I want to do," said Mitz.

There are two highlight video packages available of the bruising running back on his player page.
