Cali Linebacker Still Likes Three

Drean Rucker, a 6-1, 230 pounds from Moreno Valley (Calif.) Canyon Springs is currently our #2 linebacker in the West region and one of the nation's best at his position as well. He's hearing from colleges all over the country but said three stand out right now.

Rucker had a solid junior season totaling 105 tackles and two interceptions earning All-League honors. Canyon Springs head coach Doug Dubois told us prior to the Nike Camp in Los Angeles that he felt Rucker was an even better prospect than current Sun Devil backer Solomon Bates who he coached in high school and at ASU.

Still, it wasn't until Rucker blew up at the Nike Camp that the offers started to roll in. The linebacker tested well running a 4.65 in the 40, jumped 28 inches in the vertical and did 20 reps on the bench. He dominated the position drills and showed he's one of the elite players in the region.

Washington, USC, Oregon State, Colorado State, Washington State, Arizona, Oregon and Arizona State have all offered scholarships.

"Oregon, USC and Oklahoma are my top three right now," Rucker said. " Oregon has a great program and a good coaching staff, USC is close to home and has a lot of tradition and Oklahoma always has good defenses and my dad played there."

Rucker said he's planning to take all five of his trips before making his decision and in addition to his top three also likes Florida State, Arizona State and Washington.
