Jerry Pettibone was Sports Illustrated's Division I co-runner up coach of the year in 1993 when the Beavers were second in the nation in rushing.
Oregon State primarily ran the wishbone offense and rarely threw the ball during the Pettibone years. The Beavers finished the 1993 season 4-7.
Pettibone was the head coach of Oregon State football from 1991-1996. During his six years at OSU, he complied a 13-52-1 (.200) record.
Pettibone started the touching of the bronze Beaver before every home game, which can be seen below.
After Mike Riley was hired in 1997, the bronze Beaver was removed from Reser.
