Dennis Dixon Cuts His List To 10

Dennis Dixon, one of the most highly recruited quaterbacks in the country, finished a two hour recruiting meeting with San Leandro assistant coach Scott Nady on Wednesday. The All-American signal caller made his first cut, are the Beavers still in the hunt?

"In no order, my final 10 are Oregon State, ASU, Washington, Oklahoma, UCLA, USC, Florida State, Washington State, Oregon and Colorado," Dixon said. "Once the season starts, I will weigh all my options and discuss all the factors with my parents and Coach Nady. Then I will select five of these schools and schedule official visits. "A change to this list is very, very unlikely but I will not rule it out 100%. I will not announce my choice until the morning of signing day. This is the biggest decision in my life and I want to make sure that I look at all the factors before I commit.

"I will not be pressured into committing early. The school that is the best fit for me will be the best fit today, best fit on the morning of signing day and it will be the best fit for the rest of my life and committing early will not change that. I will take time from now until the morning of signing day to identify that school."

Dixon, 6-3, 175 pounds said there's five main factors he's looking at in his decision.

"The first thing is the success of the program this year because I know that will help bring in a strong recruiting class. Next is the stability of the head coach, I don't want to have to go through a coaching change. I want to play for a National Championship, have a strong relationship with both the head coach as well as my position coach and I'm looking for the best overall fit for me both academically and athletically."

Dixon, who was a standout at the recent Student Sports Elite 11, will announce his college choice at a press conference at San Leandro the morning of signing day.
