A Beaver verbal...maybe?

CAMERON COLLINS, a playmaker out of Santa Monica and one of the Beaver targets this recruiting class, has reportedly given a verbal commitment to Oregon State according to the Santa Monica Mirror. But the paper also makes the oral pledge to the Beavs sound anything but rock solid.

The article published states several other schools are still in play and that "the verbal commitment is a way of saying that Oregon State is in the lead."

BF.C's efforts to reach Collins for comment have thus far proved unsuccessful.

Two of the teams hot on the recruiting trail for Collins besides Oregon State are Stanford, Villanova and Oregon. Collins took official visits to OSU and Oregon earlier this season.

The all-league defensive back made 17 tackles in one game this season, and was named all-CIF his junior year. The 2006 all-CIF teams have not yet been released. It is expected Collins future is on the defensive side of the ball at the next level, although the 6-1.5, 195 pound playmaker also has receiver skills.

Collins, an outstanding student with a 3.75 GPA, has achieved a qualifying score on the SAT.
