WR has OSU visit date, second Pac-10 offer

THINGS ARE HEATING UP for wide receiver prospect Aaron Pflugrad. After receiving an offer from Oregon State last week, Oregon stepped up to the table and also offered a scholarship to the Eugene all-state wide receiver. And for good measure, a third Pac-10 school will be bringing in Pflugrad on an official visit this weekend at which time yet another offer could be forthcoming.

Pflugrad received his second Pac-10 offer from coach Mike Bellotti on Friday.

"Coach Bellotti called me on the phone and explained that they would like to have me in their program," said Pflugrad.

Dad Robin Pflugrad is the Ducks' WR coach but Bellotti made clear he was offering the younger Pflugrad on his merits as a player, and that there have been sons of assistant coaches in the past that he has invited to walk on, but has not offered a scholarship to.

THE OTHER SCHOOL in the picture is Arizona State. New ASU coach Dennis Erickson offered Pflugrad earlier this year when he was at Idaho. The Sun Devils haven't offered Pflugrad but there are indications that could happen when he's on his official visit to Tempe this weekend.

Pflugrad lived in the Tempe area from 1995-2001 when father Robin was recruiting coordinator and assistant coach for the Sun Devils.

HIS VISIT TO CORVALLIS is scheduled for Jan. 20.

Pflugrad sat down recently and pulled out about 15 cards, such as coaching staff, family atmosphere, style of play, etc., wrote down his thoughts and then rated the three schools on each attribute. After adding all the cards up, things weren't a whole lot clearer.

"It all come out really, really even," said Pflugrad. "So I'm going to go on feel. My dad said and we both agreed that all three are pretty great places and you can't go wrong with any of them. I have a big decision to make."
