And a full scholarship was too good an offer to pass on, said Hubel.
"Tonight, Portland State offered me and I'm going there," said Hubel. "I called Oregon State and they said that they wanted me as a walk on and I was thinking about that but then Portland State called and offered me a full ride so I'm going there."
Hubel said while he enjoyed the visit to Oregon State and the thought of being in a Pac-10 program, Portland State has it's own charms as well.
"They've been recruiting me for a long time, I've developed a good relationship with them, really gotten to know them and they're guys I'd like to play for," said Hubel. "I just really felt comfortable and academically they offer what I'm interested in and my parents can still see me play. And it's high quality football, it's not in the Pac-10, but it's still quality football in the Big Sky and Portland State is a good program.
"I'm really excited about it, it hasn't worn off yet and it's a weight off my shoulders," Hubel added.
