Fall Camp - Aug. 16

The offense ran hot and cold Thursday but no such inconsistency from the secondary, as Keenan Lewis and Brandon Hughes had stellar outings. Mike Riley said the QB decision is likely to come in a few days. Alexis Serna will handle all the kicking duties and choose a holder. A resolution on Sammie Stroughter is also coming soon, according to one media source.

- Short recap -

Practice on Thursday saw the offense alternating between being "on", and looking sluggish. Riley downplayed the malaise, saying it's just an inevitable part of a fall camp. The secondary, meanwhile, looked stellar, with Keenan Lewis and Brandon Hughes leading the way.

Alexis Serna will handle all kicking duties with the unexpected departure of punter Kyle Loomis due to personal reasons. Serna picked sophomore walk-on Taylor Kavanaugh as his new holder, the senior's third holder in four years.

The quarterback battle for the starting job has nearly run it's course. The third and final scrimmage on Saturday looks to be key, with Riley saying he'll make a decision soon after, trending towards Monday.

Expect a decision on Stroughter's future by the end of the week, or early next week, says the Oregonian.

"I'm getting closer to naming a starter, but I'm not sure I will be ready immediately after Saturday's scrimmage. But, I think the decision needs to come pretty soon."
