- Short recap -
The final double-day of fall camp was held Aug. 17. The Saturday scrimmage begins at approximately 2 p.m. at Reser Stadium.
Saturday's scrimmage won't weigh heavily on who starts at QB, Riley now says. Could be Riley wants to create a situation where Sean Canfield and Lyle Moevao are as relaxed as possible Saturday -- to just 'go out and play', what with the heavy scrutiny on the QB battle over a long-ish period of time. The starting TE is still up for grabs between Howard Croom, John Reese, Gabe Miller and Brady Camp. And there's a feature on Miller in The Oregonian. OSU officials, according to The Oregonian, are talking now about dealing with privacy issues regarding the absence of WR Sammie Stroughter, with yesterday marking Day No. 10 since he's been absent from fall camp.
- Riley says -
"We keep guys who we are thinking about playing as true-freshmen practicing with the offense and defense; we don't throw them on the scout team too early, we let them keep learning. If something happens injury-wise relatively early in the year you can activate them and they're ready to go. But, you also don't burn a redshirt year needlessly."
On RB Ryan McCants, WR James Rodgers and WR Darrell Catchings:
"Those guys are really interesting to me. I haven't decided on what I want to do with those guys in terms of redshirting."
