NorCal WR Likes the Beavers

San Leandro (Calif.) wide receiver Sam Cheatham, 5-9, 160 pounds has already set up two of his five trips and should be narrowing his list down quite a bit in the next week or so...are the Beavers in the mix?

Cheatham is a big time athlete who we loved at the NorCal Nike Camp. He clocked a 4.51 in the 40 at the Camp and was very impressive in the one on one drills.

As a junior, Cheatham caught 38 balls for 884 yards (23.2 ave) and 13 touchdowns. At cornerback, he totaled 60 tackles and had five interceptions, three of which he returned for scores to earn 1st team All-League and 2nd Team All-State Underclass honors.

Cheatham combines with San Leandro quarterback Dennis Dixon to form one of the nation's best pass catching duos. Dixon will trim his list to five this weekend and the two could have a few of the same colleges on their list.

"I have a visit to Colorado (Nov. 15) and I know Dennis is interested in them as well," Cheatham said. "We also like Oregon and Washington but I'm not sure what Dennis is going to do right now.

"I also have a visit set up with Northwestern for (Dec. 13) and I'm going to set one with Oregon very soon. The Ducks are my top school right now. I also like Washington, Kansas State, UCLA and Oregon State."

Academically, Cheatham is carrying a 4.0 GPA and scored a 930 on the SAT.
