WGW: Where are the nickel slots?

Bleeda went 1-1 last week and is a crappy 12-16 on the year. The bankroll is now around half gone sitting at $5420.Maybe this wiseguy needs to shake things up this week!?

Perhaps I should eat a plate of chicken wings before the Beavers game? Or invite Terrible Terry up to Corvallis? Or maybe take a roadtrip to Reno and hang out with the greyhairs at the nickel slot machines? Hey, the cocktails keep coming and you can play on $1000 for at least 72 hours straight.

Ok, enough of the nonsense. Let's pick some winners!

#8 USC +3 at #5 UO.
The University of Southern California will expose the Zeros for the frauds they are. The Trojans are healthy now and they have a rush defense that should be able to slow Stewart and Dixon down (at least a little bit).

How bout some trends, so I can prove I'm not just picking the Toejams because I hate the Quackers. Here we go:

  • USC is 8-1 ATS (against the spread) in their last nine games as a road underdog and 6-1 in their last seven as an underdog
  • The Trojans are 6-1 ATS against a team with a winning record
  • USC is 4-1 ATS in their last five games as a road underdog of 0.5-3.0 points
  • The Ducks are 1-4 ATS in their last five home games versus a team with a winning road record
  • Of course let's just forget the fact that UO is 26-0 ATS in their last 26 games after accumulating more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game.

USC plays big in big games though, therefore Bleeda taking the three points and laying $550 to win $500.

Stanford at Oregon State UNDER 53.
I really hate betting Unders, but I need to be realistic here - the Beavers have a banged up offensive line and will be playing with a patchwork unit. The defense will need to carry the team.

The Beavs will put up about 30 and it's not likely that the ‘Furd puts up more than 20 - playin' the Under $550 to win $500.

#12 Kansas -2.5 at Texas A&M.
The Jayhawks are 6-0 ATS so far this year and are one of five undefeated teams left. They only allow 10.1 points per game which ranks second in the nation. Coach Mark Mangino is very, very, very fat; $330 fat ones on Kansas to win $300.

New Mexico State at #16 Hawaii -29.5.
Make sure you don't call Hawaii the Rainbow Warriors. "Hawaii fan" will be quick to point out to you they are just the Warriors.

Anyhows, the former Rainbows are coming off a BYE week and have wunderkind quarterback Colt Brennan healed up. Hawaii has stumbled through the year to 7-0, but only sits at #17 in the BCS standings due to an extremely weak schedule. To qualify for a BCS game they will need to finish in top 12, which will be a tough task.

Look for the Warriors to ride the moxie of Colt and run up the score on New Mexico State. The horses won't be called off in this one.

Bleeda loves bettin the late night "chase" game and he's throwing down $1100 to win $1000.

UCLA at Washington State +6.
The Cougars have won five of the last six against the Bruins and will be playing in the cold confines of the Palouse, which is no Pasadena.

Coach Dorrell loses games he should win and seems to win games he shouldn't to save his job every year. Pencil this game as one he loses. Think Utah.

ASU squirmed out of Pullman with a narrow win, UCLA will not. Value is with the moneyline, taking the 2-1 odds. $500 to win $1000.

There is a great slate of college football games this weekend. The following will pit top 25 teams facing each other: USC at Oregon, Cal at ASU, Ohio State at Penn State, West Virginia at Rutgers, and Florida at Georgia.

Have fun and keep that remote control handy. Better yet put two extra televisions in your sports den.
