NorCal WR Hearing from Beavers

Chris Stumpf, a 5-10, 180 pound wide receiver from Arcata (Calif.) may be a sleeper in some parts of the state but everyone in NorCal is well aware of him. Stumpf has been putting up big numbers all year and is starting to draw the attention of several schools in the Pac 10.

Stumpf had a very good showing at the NorCal Nike Camp over the summer running a 4.56 in the 40, 4.13 in the shuttle and jumped 31 inches in the vertical. He has great hands and is an advanced route runner. The receiver also runs well after the catch and has been dominant on the field this year.

In six games this year, Stumpf has 22 catches for 553 yards (25.1 ave.) and seven touchdowns while sitting out the second half of three games due to blow outs. He has also rushed 25 times for 2899 yards (11.6 ave) and five more scores.

Stump is currently hearing from Arizona State, Cal, Oregon State, Oregon, Boise State, Colorado State, Portland State and the Ivy League. He took an unofficial visit to Oregon this past weekend and will visit Oregon State unofficially next week with a trip to ASU the following week.

"Oregon was cool but they had some players in for official visits so they were showing them most of the attention," Stump said. "I've already been to several Cal games, my older brother Brian played receiver for the Bears from 95-99. I would say my top three right now are ASU, Cal and Colorado State."
