the first time the Beavers have opened the year with a conference match-up since
playing at Arizona State in 1994. OSU lost 22-16.

The last time the team opened a year on the road was in 2004 when they played LSU losing 22-21 in overtime. The 2004 squad finished 7-5 and played Notre Dame in the Insight Bowl.
Thursday games road games have not been kind to the Men in Black under Riley as they lost to Boise State 42-14 in 2006 and to Cincinnati 34-3 in 2007. OSU in 2-0 in Thursday home openers.
