DE reschedules Corvallis trip

MATT GARIN HAD planned to visit Oregon State this weekend but ended up rescheduling the trip. "We actually couldn't make it to Oregon State because my flight got switched around...I'm definitely going to go see Oregon State and Air Force this spring. And I think I might be going to Wisconsin too this spring," said Garin.

Matt Garin (6-4, 220, 4.6) logged 62 tackles last season, with 13 hurries, 8 sacks, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery, 5 pass breakups, 18 tackles for loss and a safety. He was named all-conference each of the past two years.

A two-year starter and three-year letterwinner, he is expected to become the first four-year letterwinner in school football history.

He's also on pace to set the school mark for tackles for loss and quarterback hurries. He already holds the school record for sacks.

He has known offers from Washington State, OSU and Air Force. Other schools who are showing interest include Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan, Oklahoma, Purdue, Stanford, Colorado.

Garin was able to visit Pullman this weekend and said while it's still too early to start naming leaders, Washington State took a leap up in his mind post-unofficial.

"I'd say Washington State is rising right now," said Garin, out of Apple Valley, Minn., about 20 minutes outside Minneapolis.

Garin and Wulff talked for nearly two hours over the weekend, Garin said.

"It was great," said Garin. "I liked it a lot. The coaches had great chemistry. Coach Wulff is a very down to earth guy."

WSU assistant Travis Niekamp is the Cougars' point man on Garin's recruitment.

"Coach Niekamp is the (area recruiting coach) and he took me out to show me the whole town, he was a really nice guy," said Garin. "I met a lot of the players when they were lifting. They gave me a really good warm welcome, left a good impression on me."
