Beavs land QB for verbal No. 4

OREGON STATE ON MONDAY landed their quarterback. One of the top passers in a deep year for quarterbacks in California, the newest member of the Beaver family got the Pac-10 offer he was hoping for and made his college decision moments ago...

Out of Stockton, Calif., St. Mary's quarterback Cody Vaz is headed to Corvallis. "I just committed to Oregon State," said Vaz.

Vaz first caught our attention as a sophomore when he attended the San Francisco Combine, though he'd never started a high school varsity game. He then led his team, "CaliTwo" to the title at the Badger/New Level Pass Camp in Las Vegas last March.

He was 215-for-332 for 3,265 yards and 33 touchdowns to 10 interceptions during the 2007 season and was named the TCAL Offensive MVP, First Team all-Area, Second Team All-Northern California and all-state underclass.

Along with Mike Beaton, a 6-2.5, 280 pound offensive guard/center, the Beavs now have four known verbal commitments. Look for more on Vaz and an article on Beaton shortly on
