Where does Siddoway stand on OSU?

SCOUT.COM's TOP RATED recruit from the state of Oregon for the class of '09 is Charles Siddoway. He holds an Oregon State offer but doesn't list the Beavs in his top five at this stage nor does he have an official visit date scheduled for Corvallis. Where do things stand between the 6-6, 305-pound offensive tackle, rated No. 19 in the nation, and Oregon State?

Are the Beavers out of it? No, says Siddoway. But contact has been sparse.

"I haven't talked to their coaches for a little while. But I wouldn't count them out. I wouldn't really count anybody out at this point," said Siddoway.

Siddoway said it's been "probably a month and a half ago" since he last spoke to OSU. For a portion of that time, he's been without his cell phone.

"Recently I had my phone stolen so I haven't been talking to too many people. I have talked with Oregon, Cal, UCLA and the Washington coaches tried to call me...I talked to Alabama and Arizona State also," said Siddoway.

SIDDOWAY SAID his top five, in no particular order, consists of Arizona State, Cal, Oregon, UCLA and Alabama.

"I've talked to (UCLA's) coaches quite a bit..I've got a couple friends who have gone there and they really like it...(Oregon) is close to home and they have good coaches...and I actually have quite a few good friends who go there and so far they've like everything there," said Siddoway.

UCLA and Cal look good for official visits in October with Siddoway still deciding on additional trips.

THROUGH THREE GAMES at Sheldon High (2-1, defending 6A state champs) has over 20 pancake blocks on the young season. Siddoway grew up in Philomath, just five minutes outside of Corvallis, before moving to Eugene last year.

Sheldon's loss was to Skyline of Washington, the defending class 3A champion who moved up to 4A this year. In the 21-0 loss, it was a game of missed opportunities, said Siddoway. Sheldon fumbled on the goal line and dropped two passes in the end zone.

Siddoway will play some d-tackle this season for Sheldon but he'll line up on the offensive line at the next level.
