Aug. 28 | at Stanford | L, 28-36

SHORT RECAP: The offense settled for field goals, an interception proved disastrous and the D continued a fall camp trend -- giving up the big play. Still, improbably, a furious OSU comeback left them with a chance. But a fumble into the end zone sealed the deal as the Beavs lost their opener. OSU only allowed Stanford 301 total yards but it was feast or famine and in the end, the Beavs came up one or two big plays shy.

KEY STAT: 210 - The number of rushing yards the Cardinal had which includes 147 yards and two touchdowns by RB Toby Gerhart.

KEY QUOTE: "We've got to play smarter. At the end, there was no reason for Darrell to put that ball in jeopardy - we've got 47 seconds and a timeout left. We had already gone 70 yards in about 60 seconds three times in that game." - Coach Mike Riley
