2008 RETRO GAME 5: Oregon State at Utah

OREGON STATE appeared to be in great shape to knock off highly rated Utah and in their own house but it all came apart for the Beavers late, as Utah scored twice in the final 89 seconds. Indeed, Oregon State held Utah to 337 total yards, but 95 of those hashes came in the final 2:18 of the game.

SHORT RECAP: In the one that got away, Oregon State dominated Utah for virtually the entire second half and held an 8-[pint lead late. But with 2:11 on the clock, Utah went 80 yards in 42 seconds and a questionable penalty gave them new life on the 2-point try. The Beaver offense went three and out, Utah drove 34 yards and kicked the game winning field goal. The loss overshadowed a mostly stout effort by the Beaver stop corps as Slade Norris and Stephen Paea combined for four sacks.

KEY STAT: 0 for 2 - The Beavers success rate on two point conversions that were triggered by a missed PAT.

KEY QUOTE: "Tough loss for us. We came out and gave it our all but we didn’t make the plays at the end when we had to. I honestly don't know what happened. We were playing a great game and when it came down to it, we didn’t make the plays." - DE Slade Norris
