Martin among the many at OSU this weekend

FUTURE BEAVER AND three-star cornerback Sean Martin (6-1, 170) out of Corona, Calif., was among the official visitors in Corvallis this weekend. One of the best man-on-man corner prospects in all the Southland this year, the Santiago High standout came away impressed with all things black and orange. He was also among a group of recruits in Corvallis than numbered in the double digits.

The official visit to OSU, said Sean Martin, was great stuff start to finish. Among the things that struck him, the family atmosphere.

"How close the players are with each other (stood out)...Overall, I was pretty impressed by the weekend. It was very busy, they kept it entertaining," said Martin.

His film session with OSU cornerbacks coach Keith Hayward was another of the weekend highlights.

"I talked one-on-one with coach Hayward. And then we went over film on things I need to do for when I come up here, his (analysis) was really good stuff," said Martin.

Martin was hosted by his former high school teammate, Ryan McCants and gave the Beaver running back high marks.

THE BOOK ON Martin from West Manager Brandon Huffman is revealing: Martin is one of the best cover corners in all the Southland, he says.

Martin, adds Huffman, stood out at every major camp this past spring and summer. At 6-foot-1, he's a corner with some size to him as well.

Martin said Washington and ASU have both made inquiries since he verballed to OSU back in early November. Washington, who made a coaching staff change this offseason, were making the most inquiries late.

"They were talking to me about going on an official visit but my high school coach was telling them that I had already committed to the school that I like. I'm not going to go on any more visits," said Martin.

Martin said the official visitors numbered in the double digits this weekend. You can see the latest updated list here. While a healthy number of the recruits in town were those who had previously verballed to OSU, the list of those still deciding between schools include 4-star prospects Michael Philipp and James Boyd as well as Semisi Tokolahi and Brandon Sermons.
